【专业解读】The mathematics program at Ohio State provides students with the analytical and logical training necessary for diverse professions. Students are taught by internationally recognized faculty in six individual areas of study: applied (chemistry and physics), biology, education, financial, honors and theoretical.

Why choose mathematics?

The formal requirements for the mathematics major are very flexible. Depending on individual interests, students can take courses in areas such as biological and physical sciences, management, finance, linguistics, social sciences, statistics, computer and engineering sciences and more. In fact, mathematics majors at Ohio State are encouraged to apply their mathematical skills in other departments by double majoring or completing a minor.

What can you do with this degree?

Approximately 50% of mathematics specialists find employment in computer programming, operations research, math modeling, actuarial science and data analysis, the federal government or public administration.

Mathematics majors are also frequently accepted into professional schools such as medical or law school as well as graduate programs in mathematics, physics, economics, business, education, statistics and computer science.
